Give Thanks? Science Supersized Your Turkey Dinner “Your corn is sweeter, your potatoes are starchier and your turkey is much, much bigger than the foods that sat on your grandparents’ Thanksgiving dinner table.”
Creative Food Manipulation “These wildly creative examples of artfully augmented food (that anybody can make, provided they got Michelangelo’s sculpture skills and nearly limitless free time) can be then displayed in upscale New York art galleries (until they go bad)”
The Carnivore’s 100. A list of 100 kinds of meat you can check off. I might do a separate post some time on how many I’ve eaten, but I think I’m pretty close to 95% (never had squirrel). Some notable exceptions on this list (hard to include everything in only 100 items, but it’s fairly well-done) is the Chicago Italian Beef sandwich, and some game items that should be on any meat-lovers agenda like rabbit, pheasant, elk, etc.

Could this be more than a rumor of real Change in Washington?
As for the economy Fast Company’s Fish on Friday column “…Whole Foods Market, which runs the nation’s most entrancing and most expensive grocery stores, reported profits for its most recent quarter. The bottom line for Whole Foods in the months of July, August, and September? $1.5 million in total profit.” That works out to $64 per store.

America’s Unhealthiest Drinks Exposed – VitaminWater has about as many calories as a Guinness*
Neither has anything on this 2,300-calorie liquid monstrosity “slurping up one 32-ounce Heath Shake is the caloric equivalent of eating 12 Krispy Kreme doughnuts, the saturated fat equivalent of scarfing 60 slices of bacon, and will give you the same sugar rush as working your way through 13 Haagen Dazs Vanilla and Almond ice cream bars.” Hurry if you want one, they’re discontinuing it at the end of May.

Monsanto’s Harvest of Fear “Monsanto already dominates America’s food chain with its genetically modified seeds. Now it has targeted milk production. Just as frightening as the corporation’s tactics–ruthless legal battles against small farmers–is its decades-long history of toxic contamination.”
A side effect of the farmer surveillance Monsanto practices – if you try taking a nice photograph of a picturesque barn in farm country, you should be prepared to be confronted by farmers who are paranoid about cameras.
On the brighter side of farming check out Straight from the Farm, a beautiful blog featuring an urban farm in Philadelphia.

I don’t have ads on this blog, but if I did I’d send you to:
Fred and Friends, with kitchen products like a pan handle shaped like a banana a measuring cup that measures not just in cups and onces, but useful measurements like ‘5 thousand drops of water’ or ‘as many grains of flour as people on the planet’. And what home would be complete without an accessory to add the vision of Mary on your toast?. They have a blog too – the Joy of Fred.
I’d also try to sell you meat candy – lollyphille has maple bacon lollypops.
I’d love to design and ad for this dual aquatic pet chop/seafood place.
