Okay. I’m been gone for awhile.
Big deal. Like you pay to get in or something.
Seriously, work, finances and lethargy are my excuses. And a massively broken back end (to those not in the computer/web business, that does not mean I damaged my ass). My Movable Type ‘engine’ and database had a complete failure and none of Mena’s Horses and none of Ben’s men (or the other way around) could put it back together again.
I’ve installed Wordpress enough times that I can get it running in less time than it takes most people to make a sandwich . But I was a little worried about transfering 5 years of posts. It took me a couple of minutes of pushing pixels around in Photoshop, a few more writing CSS declarations another 2 on the famous 5 minute install. But deciding to make the directory public took another three weeks.
It’s unfortunate that I can’t bring over the comments, since it’s the input of the internet population that makes weblogs worth reading. However it’s probably the open comment system of Movable Type that killed this thing in the first place. With as many protections as possible, the old blog recieved over 3 thousand spam comments in less than a week. Maybe someday I’ll import the good ones.
In the last few months, I have eaten a few things, so I’ve got a bunch to post. Stayed tuned.
