More food and drink events in Chicago

A ‘Green Team‘ will be hanging out tonight at 7pm to 8:30pm: Near Kerryman Pub (661 S. Clark Street) and Celtic Crossings (751 S. Clark Street) handing out Irish Spring Body Wash and a little Zagat guides to America’s Top Irish Pubs. They’ll be outside The United Center later on. You can find the Zagat America’s Top Irish Pub guide online. They’ve got the core list of pubs here, but we all know there are many more Irish Pubs in Chicago and there are a few many notable missing pubs, like Gunther Murphy’s, Johnny O’Hagan’s, Ginger’s Ale House, Pepper Canister, etc, etc. I also noticed the NY list was missing a cool little place I found last time I was crawling around the city – The Four Faced Liar although they did include my favorite – Swift, which includes an excellent beer list and a pulpit in the back.

I know it’s hard to get them all, since I myself, need to updated my list and map, as well as add a River North/Loop map before St. Patrick’s Day.

The Chiditarod Urban Iditarod “Returning for a glorious second year as the most absurd shopping cart race in Chicago.” It’s also a food drive with the food collection goal of 1 metric ton of food.

I completely missed that Gapers Block’s food site – Drive Thru had launched.

Beet Dinner

Local chef wins on Iron Chef (as everyone else tries to avoid the ‘Cantu Beets Morimoto’ pun) and celebrates by inviting local food forum members to a re-creation of the beet menu. Photos by the excellent skilletdoux. Where else are you ever going to see a beet, monkfish and racoon parfait?
