After I had the black cod at Nobu 57 last month, I looked it up to see what the real name was, since I know it’s fairly common for the market to rename fish especially with names like this. I learned the real name is sablefish, but I figured that was just another name, and not the same as the smoked sable found in Jewish deli’s. I’ve had it at Kaufman’s Deli (4905 Dempster St, Skokie) many times.
